Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation Donates To Team Endowment Accounts at MidwayUSA Foundation

MidwayUSA FoundationThe Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) recently donated $162,200 to Team Endowment Accounts at the MidwayUSA Foundation.  The donation will benefit 67 teams participating in the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) and Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) across 28 different states.  Details on the teams benefiting from the donations can be found here. The donations from SSSF to MidwayUSA Foundation Team Endowment Accounts are made possible by grants provided through the generosity of Larry and Brenda Potterfield.  The SSSF provides SCTP and SASP member-teams the opportunity to earn MidwayUSA Foundation Team Endowment Account funds through placements in SSSF-sponsored competitions and by participating in SCTP and SASP fundraising activities benefiting local shooting sports communities. The Team Endowment Account Program at the MidwayUSA Foundation gives a community the ability to financially support a competitive youth shooting sports program or financially assist in the start-up of a new youth shooting sports program.  The team can then request a grant of up to 5% of their endowment account balance once each year, in either December or June, to pay for team expenses.  There are no fees associated with a MidwayUSA Foundation Team Endowment Account.

RUDY PROJECT Joins the SASP as a Bronze Level Sponsor

rudy 2For the second year, Rudy Project is joining the Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) as a Bronze Level Sponsor . “We’re happy to have Rudy Project back as a great partner for the SASP,” Tammy Mowry, SASP national director, said.  "Rudy Project makes a great product that can be worn by all.  It also participates as one of the SASP’s partners that offers discount purchasing to our registered teams and athletes.  It has a product that is good for you, good for shooters and good for us.” Paul Craig, president and co-founder of Rudy Project, said, “We are thrilled to be working with SASP this year. Rudy Project will provide these kids with comfortable, reliable, and most importantly, protective eyewear when they are out on the range. We truly support the mission of SASP, and giving children the necessary tools to learn how to shoot safely is something that I, and the company, stand behind one hundred percent.” Rudy Project shooting glasses ensure a perfect fit because of their ergonomic design and total comfort system. The superior ventilation system is key in a sport featuring speeds that may not be extreme, but still require clear vision with no-fogging. The shooting glasses allow perfect vision in all weather and light conditions with interchangeable (on most models) RP Optics lenses, which offer total protection from the sun and the photochromic lenses, capable of handling the various spectrums of light during an entire day (morning to evening).

Nearly 2,000 Register for SCTP Nationals on First Day of Registration

clayTarget-logoStaying up until midnight on June 1 is becoming an annual tradition for many Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) coaches across the country, as it marks the opening day of registration for the annual SCTP National Team Championships. In the first 24 hours of open registration for the July 9-16 tournament, the program saw 113 teams from 20 different states register 1,905 athletes. Combined registrations in all SCTP events totaled 3,804 compared to 2,026 for the first 24 hours of tournament registration one year ago.  “These numbers are absolutely incredible!” said Tom Wondrash, SCTP national director. “We had almost as many athletes and registrations in one day this year as we had in total at last year’s National Championships! People are excited about this year’s tournament for sure!” The 2016 event at the Cardinal Center in Marengo, Ohio, is on track to outpace the 2015 SCTP National event, which finished with 2,432 athletes and 4,484 event entries. While the numbers are already up significantly from last year’s registrations, Wondrash points out that there is still room at the spacious Cardinal Center.  "There are many times and dates still available for this year’s National Championships, teams can register up to July 5th!” The Scholastic Action Shooting Program will also hold its National Junior/Senior Championships in conjunction with the SCTP tournament. Additional facilities including 14 new action shooting bays have been constructed at the Cardinal Center for the event.  SASP Nationals registration begins for teams on the SSSF SHOT data-system on June 3rd.
