Join the fun at the final SCTP-NSCA 2017 tour stop at the Southeast Regional at The Fork in Norwood, NC! All SCTP shooters are encouraged to attend and experience the atmosphere of one of the top sporting clays tournaments in the country.
  • Medallions will be awarded to the top sub-juniors and juniors based on the Preliminary Event.
  • Ladies medallions will be awarded in each concurrent as well.
  • Targets will count towards new NSCA-SCTP All-American Teams!

NSSA-NSCA/SCTP All-American Team

The NSSA-NSCA All-American Team program is a partnership between the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) and the National Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA) / National Sporting Clays Association (NSCA). The partnership promotes participation beyond SCTP competition and provides an easy way for youth and families to continue shooting via the multiple opportunities the NSSA/NSCA provide. Youth in the SCTP may participate in NSSA/NSCA registered competitions and compete for All-American honors. The NSSA-SCTP All-American Team recognizes SCTP athletes who compete in National Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA) registered events. To be eligible for the SCTP All-American Team, a shooter must be a member in good standing with NSSA-NSCA and SCTP, must shoot a minimum of 500 12-gauge NSSA registered targets, and must shoot their respective SCTP state or regional shoot or the SCTP National Championships. The NSSA-SCTP All-American Team will be determined via 12-gauge average. An athlete’s 12-gauge targets registered in the shooting year (January 1 to December 31) will be used to determine the team. The NSSA-SCTP All-American selection will be divided into six teams which include Open Sub-Junior, Lady Sub-Junior, Open Junior, Lady Junior, Open Collegiate, and Lady Collegiate. Eight shooters will be selected to each of the Sub-Junior and Junior teams. Athletes who are selected to an NSSA Sub-Junior, Junior, or Collegiate Concurrent All-American Team will not be eligible to make the NSSA-SCTP All-American Team. To be eligible for the SCTP All-American Team, a shooter must be a member in good standing with NSSA-NSCA and SCTP, must shoot a minimum of 500 NSCA registered targets, and must shoot their respective SCTP state or regional shoot or the SCTP National Championships. The NSCA-SCTP All-American Team will be determined via points earned by competing and placing against other SCTP athletes. DeWitt named as SCTP National Team Head Coach

The Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) has formalized an agreement to name Terri DeWitt as the 2017/2018 Head coach of the newly developed SCTP-USAS National Team! DeWitt, a 20 year member of the US Army Marksmanship Unit’s shotgun team and 1996 Olympian in Woman’s Double Trap has agreed to head up the 12 person team (6 men / 6 ladies) that formally starts September 1st 2017 and runs through August 31st of 2018. Team members must earn their way on to the team by placing in the top 3 positions in Bunker Trap and International Skeet at the SCTP’s International National Championships held at the US International Shooting Park in Colorado Springs, CO. each year. “The SCTP National Team will provide young shotgun athletes an amazing opportunity to enter the Olympic pipeline with support and guidance!” Said Terri DeWitt, Head Coach – SCTP National Team. “I’m tremendously excited to be a part of this program and look forward to working with these talented and highly motivated athletes. Congratulations to the SCTP, its sponsors, and to USA Shooting for making their shared Olympic vision a reality.” Terri’s 4th place finish in the ‘96 Olympics, 5 time National record holder, earner of 6 National Championship Titles and 16 World Cup & World Championship medals certainly make her more than qualified to lead this team! “We couldn’t be more proud to name Terri as the head coach!” Said Tom Wondrash, SCTP National Director. “This opportunity for SCTP athletes has been in consideration for several years now and with the help from USA Shooting we are extremely happy to get it off the ground. Opening doors and helping define a clearer path to the Olympic dream is what the SCTP is all about!” Terri is also a Level 3 NRA Certified Shotgun Instructor and is finishing her Master’s degree in sport coaching as well as attending the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) Coach School to attain international certification. This newly formed team is comprised of the top 6 athletes (3 men & 3 ladies) athletes placing in International Skeet and Bunker Trap at the SCTP’s National International Style Championships held in Colorado Springs, CO July 23-29, 2017. National team members receive a USA Shooting jacket, paid fall selection match fees and ammo, along with an SCTP National Team vest, five cases of NobelSport Quattro Finest International ammunition and more! Details concerning the training camps and the naming of a head coach for this team will be forthcoming. These 12 spots will be re-earned at each year’s SCTP International Nationals. The Scholastic Clay Target Program is the official youth shooting program to USA Shooting and provides a pipeline for future international shotgun competitors. A look at the “numbers” for the 2017 Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) & Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) National Championships

The 2017 Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) and Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) National Championships, held at the Cardinal Shooting Center, July 8 thru 15, in Marengo, Ohio  are officially “in the books” and here’s a look at the final numbers. The 2017 Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) and Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) National Championships brought together competitive shooters, ages 8 to 23, from 32 states to compete for national titles in the shotgun disciplines of American Trap, Handicap Trap, Bunker Trap, Trap Doubles, Skeet, Skeet Doubles and Sporting Clays. Pistol and rifle competitors competed for steel shooting titles in Rimfire Pistol, Centerfire Pistol, Iron Sight Rifle and Optics Rifle divisions. The Numbers At-a-Glance:
  • 1,043,100 Competitive rounds were fired by 2,687 shooting sports competitors from 32 states during the 8 day event (Approx. 1.4 million including the games and practice)
  • Participation in the Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) increased 119%, from 2013 to 2017 (from 199 to 436 athletes)
  • Participation in the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) increased 19.5%, from 2013 to 2017 (from 1883 to 2251 athletes)
  • Women are the fastest growing segment of the shooting sports, making up 18% of the National Championship competitors (16% of SCTP shooters, 30% of SASP shooters)
  • $425,000.00 (SCTP) and $84,750.00 (SASP) MidwayUSA Foundation Team Endowment Funds earned at the 2017 National Championships
  • SSSF has awarded $100,000 in scholarships to SCTP and SASP participants this season and over $300,000 in total scholarships since 2013
  • SCTP and SASP make up the largest youth shooting program in the country with over 16,211 youth athletes in 45 states (14,854 in SCTP, 1,357 in SASP)
  • 6.3 million clay targets were thrown during the 2016-17 SCTP competition season as recorded by the SSSF’s SHOT 5 team registration and event management system

Name: Landon Sievers State: Illinois Program: SCTP Team: Golden Eagle Gun Club How the SCTP has helped me as a young person: The Scholastic Clay Target Program has taught me many things.  It has taught me focus and discipline.  It has taught me responsibility and teamwork skills.  Another thing that it has taught me is to have confidence and always challenge myself.  I have also enjoyed making new friends.  These are some of the reasons that I love competing in this program.

Over 1,000 SCTP Athletes Compete In Last Competitor Standing

One of the highlights of Nationals week for SCTP athletes is the opportunity to compete in a massive Last Competitor Standing (i.e. "Annie Oakley") event that gives them the opportunity to win guns, gear, and even a scholarship. In this miss-and-out fun competition, up to 30 athletes per trap field try to eliminate each other by capitalizing on the previous competitor's misses. Over 500 athletes competed each evening. The event has two components on each of two nights: a competition for anyone who wishes to compete, with men’s and ladies winners taking home guns and other prizes, followed by a competition just for 2017 graduating seniors who competed for $1,000 scholarships presented by the NRA. 2017 Nationals Gun Raffle Winners

The 2017 Scholastic Clay Target Program and Scholastic Action Shooting Program National championships had many winners, both on and off the range! A total of 67 firearms were awarded during nationals and below are some of the highlights. Congratulations to everyone who participated and supported the SCTP and SASP!
