SCTP 2018 Illinois Regional Shoot

Mark your calendars for May 19th and 20th for a Scholastic Clay Target Program regional shoot at the World Shooting and Recreational Complex in Sparta, IL. The event is open to all SCTP registered teams and will feature trap, skeet and sporting clays. Random Drawing of all registered athletes for prizes! Team Scoring for all 3 events Classifications – Varsity / JV / Intermediate 200 Trap – 100 Skeet – 100 Sporting Clays TEAM – INDIVIDUAL - HOA Awards Registration will be done on the SHOT system and opens Monday, April 16 Program to follow with complete details! Saturday – All 200 Trap will be shot / Awards to follow - Skeet and Sporting Clays Open Sunday – Skeet and Sporting Clays / Awards to follow *NSSA/NSCA/ATA rules apply. Event coordinator has final word relating to this event. Teams must be registered with the SCTP prior to event. College athlete scores will not be used for HOA ** We will be running an ATA Registered shoot on Saturday, May 19th. If your team is interested in this, they must be ATA registered. We will use those scores for the SCTP Regional event as well. Teams must squad on fields 1-8 when registering. Coaches may shoot registered targets as well. OSSA Awards Cash Grants to SCTP Teams

The OHIO STATE SKEET ASSOCIATION (OSSA) announced this week that they are awarding $250 each to the four (4) Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) Skeet Teams in Ohio for a total of $1000 to help with their operating expenses. This is the third year that OSSA has made cash grants to SCTP Teams. "OSSA is pleased to be able to support the SCTP teams and youth shooting sports, and in so doing, help grow skeet shooting” said Gustavo Acosta, OSSA President. “This generous grant by OSSA is a great example of how state associations can give back to their sport by investing in youth shooting” said Tom Wondrash, SCTP National Director. SCTP State Skeet Advisor, Dan Hathaway states, “ We are pleased to have the support of OSSA in our local, state and national events…this grant is much appreciated by the teams.” OSSA has over 150 members who compete in registered skeet events. OSSA sanctions National Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA) registered shoots held in the state of Ohio and operates the Ohio State Skeet Championship.

2018 Iowa SCTP Regional Championships

Register now for the 2018 Iowa regional trap championships May 12-13, 2018 at the Iowa State Trapshooting Association (ISTA) home-grounds near Cedar Falls, IA. The program will feature 100 16 yard singles, 100 doubles and 100 handicap targets with all events available to teams either day of the competition. Team scoring will be used for this event with trophies and medals awarded to teams and individuals in rookie, intermediate, junior varsity and varsity divisions. College athletes scores will not be used for HOA. Singles and doubles targets will be registered with the Amateur Trapshooting association and SCTP/ATA rules will apply. All athletes must be fully registered with the Scholastic Clay Target Program prior to the event. Registration will be available through the SHOT system starting April 2nd. Event fees will be $43 for the singles and doubles events and $39 for the handicap event (ATA/ISTA fees included). All participating athletes will be entered for a random drawing for over $3,000 worth of  prizes! Minnesota SCTP Informational Meeting

Parents, coaches, school representatives and shooting range managers are encouraged to attend to ask questions and receive more information about the most comprehensive youth clay target program in the country.

2018 Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation Scholarship Program

The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF), the National Governing Body of the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) and the Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP), is once again offering a scholarship program to reward deserving SCTP/SASP graduating seniors with needed college assistance. The main objective is to award as many scholarships as possible to qualifying SCTP / SASP graduating seniors. Since 2013 SSSF has awarded over $300,000 in scholarship funds benefiting over 300 student athletes from 39 different states in the Scholastic Clay Target and Scholastic Action Shooting programs. SSSF is establishing minimal guidelines for the selection procedure, thus allowing the final selection to be as simple as possible. *NOTE - You must be a current and paid member of the SCTP or SASP national organization at time of application submission! General Procedures: Each applicant must be a graduating senior within the year of the awarded scholarship and must be registered for college before the scholarship is awarded in that same year.
  • Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative Grade Point Average through the most recent grading period ending on or before April 1, 2018.
  • Each prospective recipient must be registered as a full-time college student before the scholarship is awarded and must provide the name of the post-secondary college or community/ junior college to receive the scholarship proceeds. Each scholarship check will be mailed to the appropriate college in the student's name by October 1, 2018. The scholarship funds are to be used for tuition, fees, etc. This is a one-time, non-renewable scholarship.
  • Applicants may not be in receipt of any "full" scholarship funds in order to qualify (i.e., athletics, military academy, academic, etc.).
  • Applicants must have participated during 2017-2018 in one of their SCTP / SASP State Championships, National Championships, or regional events in Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays, or Olympic Bunker; Olympic Skeet Championships, Pistol or Rifle.
  • Applicants must be able to complete all parts of the application packet:

2018 SCTP Junior Olympic Development Camp

Scholastic Clay Target Program coaches and athletes are invited to apply for a very special camp this spring focused on learning the fun and challenging clay target disciplines of international (i.e. “bunker”) trap, international doubles trap and international skeet. The 2018 Junior Olympic Development Camp (JODC) will take place in Colorado Springs, CO at the Olympic Training Center and USA Shooting’s International Shotgun Range at Fort Carson– training grounds for USA’s Olympic shooting athletes! The purpose of the JODC camp is twofold: 1. To assist USA Shooting in its pursuit of identifying SCTP Athletes who have the potential to become USA Shooting Team members and, ultimately, Olympic champions; and 2. To provide SCTP Coaches and State Advisors with increased knowledge and skills in order to become more effective in working with SCTP Athletes. The U.S. Olympic Committee and USA Shooting have confirmed May 23-28, 2018 for the camp with coaches attending all days and athletes attending May 24-28. Interested coaches and athletes must apply and be selected for the camp. SCTP will be accepting up to 24 athletes and up to 10 coaches. For the 2018 season, we ONLY have the May camp available. SCTP and USA Shooting Announce 2018 International National Championship Dates

The Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) has received official notice of dates for its 2018 International National Championships from USA Shooting. This event will be held in Colorado Springs, Colorado at the International Shooting Park, Ft. Carson. The dates and course of fire are as follows: July 22-23: Open Training both days, 9am – 4pm July 24-25: Skeet Championships 125 targets July 26-27: Bunker Trap Championships 125 targets All teams must register via the SHOT system which will open on or around June 1st. Individual medals and team trophies will be awarded to the top three in each category. The 2019 SCTP National Team will be decided by this tournament with the top three women and top three men in both categories of International Skeet and Bunker Trap forming the new team for next year. SCTP would like to thank USA Shooting for its continued support and dedication as their official youth feeder program to the US National team and Olympic dream!
