Level 1 Shotgun Coach Course Planned in Nebraska

SCTP is hosting an NRA Level 1 Shotgun Certification Course in Grand Island, Nebraska, on December 6-7. The classroom portion of the class will be held at the Grand Island Police Department/Hall County Corrections Administrative Building conference room (111 Public Safety Dr., Grand Island, NE). The range portion of the class will be held at the Heartland Public Shooting Park (6788 W Husker Hwy, Grand Island, NE) on December 7. To register, complete the form and return with your payment. You can also contact Amanda Wondrash by phone at 262-206-4634 to pay by credit card. The cost of the class will be $190 for non-registered SCTP coaches or $125 for currently registered SCTP coaches. If we get 20 or more class attendees, we will refund $25 each to SCTP current registered coaches. Rooms are available at the Holiday Inn – Midtown (2503 S. Locust St., Grand Island, NE (308-384-1330) for $108.99/night (King) and $ 101.99/night (Double) plus tax. Please mention the SCTP Coach Class and Book Early and Save Rates for the rate. Class starts promptly at 8 am each day; on Saturday, please expect to be in class until 5 p.m. On Sunday, the class will start in the classroom at 8 a.m. and go until about noon. After lunch, you will travel to the range for the remainder of the day. Please dress accordingly for the weather and prepare to be outside all afternoon. There will be an informational meeting Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Holiday Inn – Midtown in the conference room. During that meeting, the instructor will go over several aspects of the SCTP and answer any questions you may have regarding your team or the SCTP program. NSCA Scholastic Instructor Certification Is New Option for SCTP Coaches

nscaShotgun coaches have a new option for becoming certified as SCTP coaches with a new program from the National Sporting Clays Association's Certified Instructor Program. NSCA now offers a Scholastic Instructor category developed to qualify instructors to work with youth and beginning shooters in a safe and recreational manner. SSSF will be accepting the new course for SCTP coach certification. The course is the same as that offered for NSCA Level I instructors but has fewer prerequisites, such as registered target requirements. Scholastic Instructor courses will be offered around the country; the first class is scheduled for January 17-18, 2015, at Old Hudson Plantation in Sparta, Georgia. Other classes will be added regularly. NSCA instructor courses can always be found on the NSCA Instructor Certification Class Schedule. SPP to Offer Pistol Coach School in Tucson, Arizona

Scholastic Pistol Program, along with NRA and USA Shooting, will offer a Level 1 Pistol Coach School on November 1-2 in Tucson, Arizona at the Pima Pistol Club. The coach school is the heart of the coach education program. The Level 1 pistol coach’s course through the National Rifle Association, USA Shooting, and the Scholastic Pistol Program covers all required coaching fundamentals for pistol coaches in the SPP, in addition to other disciplines of pistol competition. The training is provided by the SPP/NRA/USAS National Coach Development Staff (NCDS). The instructors use up-to-date materials and PowerPoint presentations to present the discipline-specific coach course. The course duration is 2 days with class running from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day. Candidates should bring eye and ear protection and note-taking materials with them. Firearms will be provided, and the Boy Scout Council will provide the ammunition. Cost of the course is $140, which includes all printed materials, 3-year coaching credentials with the NRA, a binder for your materials, and lunch/refreshments each day. The registration fee includes a copy of the coach student study guide and other materials to help you with the details of coaching. Participants complete an open-book test as homework during the first evening of the course. The test is graded in class, reviewed for understanding, and then submitted to the NRA National Coach Trainer by the school instructor for credential processing. Upon successful completion of the coach school, you will be a Level 1 Coach (or Youth Trainer, if under 18 years old) in that discipline. Pre-registration for the course is required. SCTP Coach Training in Wisconsin

If you're considering becoming an SCTP coach, two upcoming events in Mayville, Wisconsin can help you accomplish that. On December 12, SCTP will host an informational meeting for those who want to know more about becoming an SCTP coach. You can hear from SCTP representatives and current coaches from the area, as well as having all your questions answered. The meeting is free and open to the public. On December 13-14, we will offer a Level 1 Coach's Certification class. The two-day course will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Cost is $190. Level 1 Pistol Course in Michigan for SPP Coaches

The Scholastic Pistol Program, along with National Rifle Association and USA Shooting, will host a Level 1 Pistol Coach's course next month in Michigan. The course covers all required coaching fundamentals for pistol coaches in the Scholastic Pistol Program (SPP), in addition to other disciplines of pistol competition. The training is provided by the SPP/NRA/USAS National Coach Development Staff (NCDS). Caledonia Sportsman's Club (10721 Coldwater Avenue SE, Alto, MI 49302) will host the class on September 13-14, 2014.

The school is two days of sports-specific lessons and practical coaching exercises designed to teach the coach candidate the basics of coaching. The following general subjects are taught:

Cost of the course is $140, which includes all printed materials, 3-year coaching credentials with the NRA, a binder for your materials, and lunch/refreshments each day.

Want to host a Level 1 SPP coaching class in your area? Training is provided by the SPP / NRA / USA Shooting National Coach Development Staff (NCDS). The course covers all required coaching fundamentals for pistol coaches in the Scholastic Pistol Program, in addition to other disciplines of pistol competition. The class fee would include all printed materials, 3-year coaching credentials with the NRA, lunch, and refreshments each day. Here are the requirements: at least 15-20 people wanting to take the class, a facility where the class can be taught indoors with access to electricity, and a range for field work.
