SSSF names Tom Davis as Marketing and Communications Manager

The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) is pleased to announce Tom Davis will join the SSSF team as its new Marketing and Communications Manager.

Tom Davis joins the SSSF team as Manager of Communications and Marketing

“We saw the need to bring our marketing efforts in-house going into 2020,” said SSSF President, Ben Berka. “We intend to bring a more authentic and consistent line of communication to our current members, industry partners, and prospective members with the addition of Tom Davis. Tom has previous marketing experience in the firearms industry at SilencerCo and also has a unique perspective as an alumnus of the Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP). We believe his professional expertise and passion to give back to our programs will have a significant positive impact at the SSSF.”

Tom will be responsible for developing and perfecting a new marketing strategy for the foundation. His marketing plan understands the need to communicate to several different audiences using unique and compelling messages about the program and its participants. By researching participant demographics and applying targeted marketing techniques, Tom’s marketing strategy will grow program membership and improve communication to current members and stakeholders.

“I feel incredibly fortunate and fired up to give back to the SSSF," stated Davis. "I have traveled to places and met people I never would have otherwise thanks to shooting sports. I truly believe the stories from the SSSF programs sell themselves. I’m excited to communicate these stories and information to our current audiences and prospective members.”

Davis will assume his new role with the SSSF on January 2nd.

Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation Donates Over $800,000 to Benefit SCTP and SASP Teams

The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) recently donated $835,887 to Team Endowment Accounts at the MidwayUSA Foundation. Teams earned funds by raising money through Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) or Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) sponsored fundraising activities and by placing in SCTP/SASP national and regional events. SSSF also matched national governing body fees paid by SCTP teams through the SSSF's SHOT data-system. This donation has benefited 326 teams participating in the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) and Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) across 35 different states. The donations from SSSF to MidwayUSA Foundation Team Endowment Accounts established to benefit SCTP and SASP member-teams are made possible, in part, by grants to the SSSF from the Tulsa Community Foundation Youth Shooting Fund established and funded by the generosity of Larry and Brenda Potterfield. Since 2014 the SSSF has donated nearly $6.5 million to benefit 543 SCTP and SASP team endowment accounts at the MidwayUSA Foundation. The SSSF provides SCTP and SASP member-teams the opportunity to earn MidwayUSA Foundation Team Endowment Account funds by participating in SCTP and SASP fundraising activities benefiting local shooting sports communities and through placements in SSSF-sponsored competitions . Please contact the SSSF for more information on how your shooting team can earn team endowment funding for their account at the MidwayUSA Foundation. The Team Endowment Account Program at the MidwayUSA Foundation gives a community the ability to financially support a competitive youth shooting sports program or financially assist in the start-up of a new youth shooting sports program. The team can then request a grant of up to 5% of their endowment account balance once each year, in either December or June, to pay for team expenses. There are no fees associated with a MidwayUSA Foundation Team Endowment Account. About MidwayUSA Foundation The MidwayUSA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity working to sustain the shooting sports industry by providing long-term funding to youth shooting teams. Every donation made is 100% tax deductible and supports the mission to help communities and organizations raise funds to support their youth shooting team. SASP Athlete Jenna Jones Receives 2A Heritage Scholarship

A Girl & A Gun (AG & AG) announces that 14-year-old Jenna Jones, an AG & AG Youth Member from Comfort, TX, is the recipient of scholarship from AG & AG to be a 2A Heritage camper. Jenna earned High Junior at 3-Gun University on March 19, at the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park.

The 2017 2A Heritage Junior Camps will take place this summer in Forest Lake, MN, and Topton, PA. Only 25 campers will be accepted into each event. Classes will take place on the first two days, followed by a match-style shοot on the last day. Juniors will receive instruction on pistol, rifle, shotgun (basic), long-range rifle, shotgun on the move/slugs/buckshot, advanced pistol skills, and transitions and stage planning.

“AG & AG has welcomed thousands of women into the shooting community, so we have seen an increase in family participation as well,” says Julianna Crowder, Founder of AG & AG. “Shooting sports have traditionally been a family activity; however, over the past 20 years, participation tapered so that most children only touched on marksmanship with pellet gυns at summer camps. 2A Heritage gives juniors the shοoting skills at the highest level. We are proud to support their programs to educate the next generation of competitive shooters.”

AG & AG sponsors the 2A Heritage website and will host a pizza dinner for the participants and their parents during the events. More information can be found at www.2AHeritage.org and AG & AG Youth Memberships.
