The Legacy Society is a prestigious group reserved for those generous individuals, couples and families who have made major gifts or have chosen to include a gift to the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation in their will or estate plans.
Making a charitable gift through your will or estate plans is a simple and impactful way to support our youth of tomorrow.
There are many ways to support Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation in your will, ranging from bequests, to gift annuities, to gifts, and retirement plan assets. Each gift supports getting more kids out shooting. For more information on planned giving , please feel free to contact Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation Board Chariman, Ed Fitzgerald
The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) has directly benefited from members of the shooting sports community intent on leaving a legacy to future generations of young athletes.
In 2014, National Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA) member Charles Gates passed. Unbeknownst to either organization at the time, Mr. Gates had structured his estate to donate his prized Krieghoff shotgun collection to be sold, with the proceeds to specifically support the youth shooting initiatives of both the NSSA and the SSSF.
While his estate benefited from the tax advantages of planned giving, his thoughtfulness also enabled him to further his passion to support youth shooting long after his passing.
It is also a wonderful example of the power of planned giving which can benefit your personal estate as well as charitable 501(c)(3) organizations like the SSSF.
The Butti family contacted the SSSF to fulfill the wishes of the late Bruno Butti, a firearms enthusiast. Donating his vast and rare firearms collection, the SSSF auctioned these items, setting up the scholarship fund with the proceeds.
In its first year, the SSSF BRUNO BUTTI & MAE (DOMENICA CARERI) BUTTI SCHOLARSHIP FUND awarded ten youth athletes with $3,000 scholarships, thanks to the incredible generosity of the Butti family.
