Reprinted with permission of the Observer-Reporter Sammy Riley, 9, of Waynesburg, recently received the runner-up award in the Rookie Dvision from assistant head coach Randy Coss during a benefit shoot at Hunting Hills in Dilliner hosted by Hunting Hills Hawkeyes, Greene County’s Scholastic Clay target Program team. Participants could compete individually or in teams of five in the 100-clay target shoot. Award winners were: • High overall male – Rex Buckhalter of Dilliner. • High overall female – Pam Blaker of Carmichaels. • Adult – Will Luckey of Mt. Morris, second place; Doug Hinerman of Waynesburg, third; John Riley of Waynesburg, fourth; and Parker Woodring of Carmichaels, fifth. • High overall youth female – Abby Ozohonish of Jefferson. • High overall youth male – Tristan Cole of Waynesburg. • Senior varsity – Brandon Sanders of Waynesburg, champion, and Zach Abbott of Rogersville, runner-up. • Junior varsity – Tristan Cole of Waynesburg, champion, and Justin Popovec of Perryopolis, runner-up. • Intermediate advanced – Zach Wilson of Waynesburg, champion, and Owen Hughes of Rogersville, runner-up. • Intermediate entry – Robby Dillon of Adah, champion, and Cole Jones of Jefferson, runner-up. • Rookie – Brendan Cole of Waynesburg, champion, and Sammy Riley of Waynesburg, runner-up. • Team – Team Miller with Frank Golsky, Brandon Sanders, Dylan Miller, Garrett Ross and Justin Golsky, first place; and Rex Buckhaulter, Eugene Latusek, Noah Haines, Sam Sellaro and Mark Sellaro, second. The benefit shoot was sponsored by Greene County commissioners and Greene County Department of Recreation. The Hawkeyes will compete June 17 in the annual Pennsylvania Scholastic Clay Target Program Sporting Clays Championship at Factoryville Sportsmen’s Club. The event will involve a 100-target shoot to determine state winners in six skill divisions.
