High Plains Drifters Win 2nd Place for Float in Colorado Parade

IMG_0364The High Plains Drifters were thrilled to win 2nd place for the float they entered in the Strasburg Hometown Days parade in Strasburg, Colorado. "We wanted to attract some new shooters for the team and we figured a unique and successfully way to do that would be to enter a float in the parade," Tim Wolfe, coach for the High Plains Drifters, said. "We wanted something out of the ordinary to show the public that there are young kids out there being responsible with guns and that they can create a positive team atmosphere around shooting activities. We came up with the concept of a skeet field because it would be very visual and would leave no doubt what one of the disciplines our youth shoot." More than 15 people worked on creating and building the float. During the parade, kids handed out candy, flyers and miniature frisbee's ( looked like clays) with the team name on it. "We received a multitude of compliments and comments on how wonderful it was to see the young kids be involved in such a great concept," Wolfe said. "At the judging stand we even got a standing ovation from a large number of people." The float won 2nd place and was shown in two newspapers that reach the eastern section of Colorado.
